Matchup History
Tuesday will mark the 131st all-time meeting between the teams, with BGSU leading the series 76-54.
Although the Falcons have won three of the past four against the Broncos, including the last two contests in Kalamazoo, Western Michigan won the last matchup—the final game of last season—by one point, 64-63, on March 7, 2025.
Scouting Bowling Green
BGSU enters the game in eighth place in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) standings with a 12-6 overall and 3-3 conference record, meaning if the regular season ended today, the Falcons would be the last team with a ticket to Cleveland for the conference tournament.
Bowling Green is coming off an 85-79 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday. The Falcons held on to defeat the Eagles despite blowing a 21-point lead in the second half.
The Falcons have one of the higher-powered offenses in the MAC, ranking third in the conference with 49.6% shooting from the field, fourth with 87.8 points per game and fifth with 35.3% shooting from 3-point range.
However, BG ranks just eighth in the MAC with 35.8 rebounds per game.
Defense has been the team’s biggest strength this season.
The Orange and Brown lead the country with 11.6 steals per game, and rank second in the nation with 17.7 turnovers forced per game.
Additionally, Bowling Green allows only 71.2 points per game, the second-fewest mark in the conference.
Scouting Western Michigan
The Broncos enter the contest in 11th place in the MAC standings, holding a 7-11 overall and 1-5 conference record.
However, Western Michigan has a 6-3 record when playing at home this season.
WMU has lost two straight contests, falling 85-82 to UMass and 104-89 against Akron.
Western Michigan’s offense has not been overpowering, scoring 77.1% points per game on 45.9% shooting from the floor, placing ninth in the MAC.
However, the Broncos make 34.7% of their 3-pointers, ranking sixth in the conference.
They are also a good rebounding team, ranking fourth in the MAC with 37.3 boards per game.
One of the team’s biggest weaknesses is their ball security, as they turn the ball over 13.5 times per game, the fourth-most in the conference.
Western Michigan’s defense is even weaker.
The Broncos allow 80.1 points per game, the second-worst mark in the MAC. They also allow teams to shoot 45.1% from the floor and 34.3% from deep, ranking seventh in the conference.
Additionally, WMU only forces 10.6 turnovers per game, the fewest in the MAC.
