BGSU hockey (15-7-6, 12-5-3) announced an update to its leadership core on Feb. 10.
Senior forward Quinn Emerson will serve as an alternate captain for the remainder of the season after first donning the “A” during BG’s 3-1 victory over No. 15 St. Thomas (18-9-3, 15-5-2) on Feb. 7. Emerson will join fellow alternates senior forward Jaden Grant, junior defenseman Gustav Stjernberg and team captain senior defenseman Dalton Norris as the team’s leadership group.
In a press release from BGSU hockey, head coach Dennis Williams stated, “I am very honored to add Quinn to our leadership group. He shows up every single day with a team-first mindset, leads with genuine care for his teammates, and plays the game the right way, shift after shift, night in and night out. His consistency, character, and compete level set the standard for our locker room.
Emerson is in his fourth season with Bowling Green and has scored 23 goals and 39 assists for 62 career points in 128 games across his college career.
This season, Emerson has set new career highs in goals, assists, and points, scoring a team-leading 21 assists and 30 points while tying freshman forward Noah Morneau for the team lead in goals with nine.
Emerson and the Falcons’ next matchup will take them to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to take on the No. 18 Augustana Vikings (18-9-3, 12-7-2) at Midco Arena on Feb. 13 and 14.
