Although the Bowling Green Falcons fell to the Miami RedHawks 91-77 on Friday night, senior guard Javontae Campbell hit a pair of career milestones.
The first milestone that Campbell hit was 1,000 points scored in the Orange and Brown, becoming the 50th player in program history, joining the likes of Daeqwon Plowden, Justin Turner, Richaun Holmes, Nate Thurmond and current assistant coach Anthony Stacey, just to name a few.
In under two full seasons, Campbell has made a huge impact in the scoring column, averaging 14.9 points in the 2024-25 season and 18.8 points during the 2025-26 season.
“A guy like that comes back for his second year is unheard of almost in college basketball now. He came back and wanted to represent Bowling Green, and we’re very thankful for that,” head coach Todd Simon said.
Joining the 1,000-point club is not the only thing that Campbell was able to achieve. He was also able to tie his own single-season record for steals, reaching 90.
Leading the nation in steals per game with 3.2 and overall steals, Campbell is 15 steals ahead of second place.
Turning defense to offense through the season, Campbell has helped propel the Falcons forward this season. Campbell has recorded five or more steals in a game seven times this year, including a program record eight steals against Le Moyne.
“It means a lot; I’m blessed to do it here at BG. You know, I love it here at BG. So, it’s just fun to do that here, and I’m just grateful to keep playing basketball,” Campbell said.
With just three regular season games remaining, Campbell is 13 steals away from tying the Mid-American Conference (MAC) single-season steals record held by Bonzi Wells at 103, which he set at Ball State during the 1997-98 season.
