BGSU hockey (16-9-7, 13-7-4) played its last home game of the 2025-26 regular season at the Slater Family Ice Arena on Feb. 21. The Falcons skated to a 1-1 draw against No. 17 Minnesota State (17-9-6, 13-7-4) before falling in the shootout.
Before the game, BGSU hockey honored its six senior players, Jaden Grant, Jack Blake, Quinn Emerson, Brett Pfoh, Jackson Niedermayer, and Dalton Norris as part of the senior night festivities.
In total, this group of seniors combined for 626 games representing the Orange and Brown over their college careers and have scored a combined 79 goals and 232 points as Falcons.
Of the six seniors, five were able to play during last night’s game as team captain Norris returned to the lineup after missing nine games with a leg injury. Brett Pfoh was unable to suit up as he is still recovering from an injury of his own.
“It was unfortunate we didn’t have Brett Pfoh in the lineup today with his injury,” said head coach Dennis Williams after the game. “It was good to be able to see him out there skating at the beginning. He did say to me on the bench, when he was waiting there to give the guys a fist bump and leave, he told me I can still go Willi’, he said to me in typical Brett fashion.
Williams started all five seniors, which included moving Niedermayer to forward for a shift so all five seniors could start the game together.
“It was nice to be able to start all five seniors that were healthy tonight and move Nieds up to the wing and give them that opportunity,” said Williams.
Falcon team captain Dalton Norris emphasized what Bowling Green means to him after spending four seasons as a Falcon.
“Try not to get emotional, but in this day and age, it’s hard because the transfer portal and you’re starting to see money come into hockey. I’m just so fortunate to spend four years here. Obviously, when Willi came in, he could’ve easily let us go and told us to go somewhere else, but he stuck with us and had our back. This community, this locker room, this team, it means the world to me.”
Freshman forward Dominik Rymon commented on what the senior class means to him, “These guys have been unbelievable, since the first day. I’m sharing a house with Jaden Grant, and he’s an unbelievable guy. I love him. I would do everything for him, everything for Norry (Norris), everything for these guys. These guys mean to me, family.”
“It’s been a great ride with those guys, and we wanna do our best to prolong that for them,” said Williams. “They’re a great group, they’ve battled, they’ve been through a lot here, and our biggest thing is we always wanna give those seniors the opportunity to play as long as they can.”
“I probably came in as a little bit of an immature boy and I’m leaving here as a man. I’m just so thankful for all the support staff, the coaching staff, and all my teammates I’ve had over the four years. This place is home, and there’s really not a place like this.”
Bowling Green will wrap up the 2025-26 regular season next weekend in Houghton, Michigan, as they take on the Michigan Tech Huskies (21-10-3, 16-5-3) and will look to claim home ice advantage for the first round of the CCHA Mason Cup playoffs.
