New data from the 2025 Wood County Health Department (WCHD) Annual Report offers a snapshot of the community’s health.
“In 2025, our agency focused on strengthening partnerships and meeting people where they are. We worked alongside residents, local organizations, healthcare providers and community leaders to improve access to services and support healthier communities across Wood County,” said Wood County Health Commissioner Benjamin Robison in the report.
Agency Impact
In 2025, the WCHD served over 130,000 residents and served 1,935 women, infants and children. The department issued 2,759 birth certificates and recorded 1,228 death reports.
The department held 20 total immunization clinics and provided 288 vaccines to children. There were 60 mobile health center events, and the community health center encountered 8,916 patients.
The Environmental Health Program
The Environmental Health Program protects public health through health regulations, routine inspections and responses to environmental concerns.
The program conducted more than 900 licensing and inspections of food service, retail and temporary food operations in 2025.
The program logged about 1546 inspection hours in Bowling Green, the most hours logged in a city in Wood County.
Disease Report
Communicable disease cases in Wood County increased. The county reported 818 cases in 2025, up from 719 in 2024, and recorded 18 outbreaks in 2025, compared to nine in 2024.
The disease report listed nine diseases, showing the number of disease cases next to a five-year average. Out of the nine diseases, five diseases exceed the average, including cryptosporidiosis, pertussis, salmonellosis, campylobacteriosis and carbapenemase-producing organisms (CPO).
The 2025 WCHD Annual Report is published yearly to educate community members, promote healthy lifestyles and protect the health of everyone in Wood County.
