Fans of Bowling Green women’s basketball are still riding high after Monday night’s buzzer-beater win against Duquesne.

But now, a test unlike any other this season is on the docket for the Falcons- the #4 team in the country in the Iowa Hawkeyes.

It would already be a tough enough test facing that level of team, but who do they have on their roster?

The reigning AP National Player of the Year, and State Farm’s latest celebrity, Caitlin Clark.

A look at the Hawkeyes:

IOWA HAWKEYES:

Current Record: 7-1

Head Coach: Lisa Bluder (24th season)

Notable Bluder Facts:

  • Bluder is the the all-time winningest coach in program history, with her teams over the years advancing to 21 postseason appearances (17 NCAA and four WNIT) in 23 seasons, including NCAA Tournament berths in 13 of the last 15 seasons.
  • All-time Iowa record: 494-249 (.664)
  • Was named the 2019 Naismith Coach of the Year.

Notable Names:

  • Caitlin Clark (Sr.)– Ah yes, the one we all see on our TV screens. Clark is Iowa’s all-time leading scorer, accomplishing that mark in only 103 games. In her time with the Hawkeyes, Clark has registered 40+ points, 5+ assists, and 5+ rebounds five times in her career and three times against AP Top 25 opponents. Since her career began, the rest of Division I has three such games, period. Look, it will be tough to stop her, but hey, you never know.

  • Gabbie Marshall (Sr.)– Clark is not the only high-level scorer donning the black and gold, as Gabbie Marshall enters her fifth season as another elite scorer. Currently, Marshall is eighth all-time for career three-pointers made with 205. This season, Marshall recorded a season-high 17 points and five three-pointers made against Northern Iowa.

  • Sharon Goodman (R. Jr.)– Goodman made her first career start on Nov. 6 against Fairleigh Dickinson, where she registered a career-high 19 points. In her time with Iowa, she has scored 10 or more points in three games in her career.

Notable Numbers:

  • Since 2008, Bluder’s teams own a 232-43 record inside of Carver-Hawkeye Arena. In that stretch, the Hawkeyes have posted three undefeated seasons at home.
  •  Iowa has two AP Top 20 wins this season.
  • Marshall became the first Iowa women’s basketball player to register 200+ 3-pointers made and 200+ steals in a career.

Tip-off between the Falcons and Hawkeyes from Iowa City is on Saturday at 1:30. Join Brandon Loe on 88.1 FM WBGU starting at 1:15.
