The 90-degree highs of the early week will ease up a bit for the weekend, which looks to be a busy one.
The National Tractor Pulling Championships will run Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Wood County Fairgrounds, drawing large crowds from all across the country. The city’s largest annual event, eclipsing the Wood County Fair, will mark its 58th year. This year will feature the official launch of a children’s book based on a true story about a woman aspiring to participate in the event.
At the same time the tractor pull enters its final evening, the city will host the last Firefly Festival of the year Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. While the first two Firefly Festivals were held on Main Street, the final one will take place on the Wooster Green. Like the first two, the final edition will include free music and activities as well as food and craft vendors.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for sunny days and clear evening skies starting Thursday and running through Saturday night.
The city’s busy summer will continue the following weekend with not only students returning for the Fall 2025 semester, but Rally BG on Main Saturday, August 23 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Then it will be just two weeks until the annual Black Swamp Arts Festival.
