BGSU football and head coach Eddie George has announced two changes to his staff, with the additions of Jaylon Bowden and Lorenzo Styles Sr. Bowden will coach safeties for the Falcons, while Styles will serve as a senior assistant/defensive line coach.
After playing together with George from 1992 to 1994 at Ohio State, Styles spent five years in the NFL as a player and made a stop in the collegiate coaching ranks as the linebackers coach for Ohio Dominican University for the 2010-2011 season.
Bowden, a two-year college player at Lamar University, spent his most recent time in the collegiate ranks as a graduate assistant at Sam Houston State for the 2022-2023 season.
Both coaches come from families with a high football pedigree. Styles, a two-time member of the All-Big Ten first team, is the father of Sonny Styles and Lorenzo Styles Jr., who won a National Championship with the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2024 and are both projected picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Bowden, meanwhile, is the son of Joe Bowden, a nine-year NFL veteran and the current defensive coordinator at Bowling Green following his promotion last month.
“Both bring grit, toughness, and real gumption to the defensive side of the ball,” said George. “They understand the culture we’re building here and the standard that’s being established as the foundation of this program.”
Styles and Bowden will look to improve on the Falcon defense that allowed the fourth-fewest yards per game but the sixth-most points per game in the Mid-American Conference in 2025.
