Local artwork is being showcased in a gallery filled with tiny art located behind Grounds for Thought on South Main Street in Bowling Green.
Bowling Green’s Tiny Gallery officially opened to the public on April 5 and displays hand-crafted miniature art created by Bowling Green’s local artists.
Jax Foster, the artist behind the creation of the tiny gallery, said the idea came about from their love of creating small pieces of artwork and wanting to have a space for art to be displayed downtown.
“I’m pretty community-based, and I like making more interactive things, so I kind of brought those two ideas together and created [Bowling Green’s] Tiny Gallery,” they said.
Foster is a part of Bowling Green’s close-knit community of artists, and they said they have an ongoing list of people who will have artwork displayed in the tiny gallery. The gallery’s display is changed out on a monthly basis, providing space for any local artist to have their work highlighted in the coming year.
With Grounds for Thought being in a central area in downtown Bowling Green, Foster said this creates a more accessible way for the community to view local artwork.
They said the business is extremely encouraging of the arts in Bowling Green, and was supportive of having the gallery stationed outside of the cafe.
“It’s important to not just include artists, but include the community and lots of people, because I think everybody needs art, and I think that’s how we keep it active and keep people caring about supporting the arts,” Foster said.
Foster said they hope to see the tiny gallery expand to more places across Bowling Green, and reach an even larger group of artists.
“I’m excited to meet more people, and get more people connected with the community,” they said.
Artwork is also available for purchase by reaching out directly to the artist on Instagram, which is displayed on the tiny gallery as well as a short bio about each artist.
