Falcons fall to UIC in Perrysburg

PERRYSBURG, OH – Falcons Women’s tennis hands the win to the University of Illinois Chicago Saturday evening

A tough evening for the Falcons resulted in a 1-6 record in singles and 2-1 in doubles.

Doubles partners Lucy Furness and Hannah Nueman won triumphantly in a match (6-3), as well as partners Tia Clemens and Brynn Chaffee (7-6).

Fonseca and Baker lost a close match to UIC players Malazonia and Belberka (6-4). They won their first couple of sets but couldn’t keep the pressure on.

Clemens proves to be the top player of the night, reigning as the only player to successfully defeat her opponent in singles (6-3, 2-6, 7-6, 7-5).

Furness, Neuman, Fonseca, Baker and Chaffee all brought the competition but ultimately fell short to UIC.

Women’s tennis will continue their season facing Slippery Rock University on Saturday, Feb. 10, and Youngtown on Sunday, Feb. 11.
