The coaches have spoken, and BGSU women’s soccer has been picked as the fifth-best team in the 2025 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll. The Falcons finished exactly where they were predicted to by last year’s poll, ending the season in sixth with a 4-4-3 conference record.
Western Michigan leads as preseason favorites for the second straight year with 135 points after they lived up to expectations and won their fourth MAC title in 2024. Buffalo and Ohio are right on their tails at 128 and 123 points, respectively, followed by the 2024 Atlantic 10 runner-up UMass Minutewomen, who hold the fourth place spot.
WMU received the most first-place votes with eight of 13 total, while Buffalo received four and UMass received one.
Among notable differences in this year’s poll compared to last year’s, Ball State loses nine spots after being predicted to finish 11th in the 2025 season. The Cardinals were expected to finish as the runner-up in 2024, only to finish with the second-worst MAC record in the conference, at 2-6-3.
Miami (OH) jumped up two positions after exceeding expectations in 2024, finishing fifth after being predicted to finish ninth.
