Following BGSU women’s soccer’s 1-0 victory in the season-opening matchup with Oakland, the team announced a promotion within the coaching staff, sending Steven Samuel up the ladder from assistant coach to associate head coach.
Samuel, who just began his first season with the Falcon coaching staff, previously filled the role of assistant coach at Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion, and Mount St. Mary’s before arriving in Bowling Green prior to the 2025 season.
At his most recent stop at CCU, Samuel helped the Chanticleers to their first Sun Belt Tournament semifinal appearance since 2017 after the team finished the season 3-3-4 in conference play in 2024.
The Lagos, Nigeria, native becomes the second in command to head coach Chris Fox, who began his second season at the helm of the BGSU Falcons in 2025.
