BGSU men’s soccer has been voted to finish second in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) this season, according to the 2025 MVC Preseason Poll.

The Falcons received 54 points with two first-place votes, finishing just two points below Drake, who received three and is the favorite to win The Valley. Just below Bowling Green are No. 20-ranked Western Michigan, which had 51 points and also two first-place votes.
Senior forward Trace Terry, midfielder Andrew Shaffer, and junior forward Bennett Painter have all earned spots on the Preseason All-MVC Team.

Terry, who was recently named to the United Soccer Coaches Forwards to Watch List, finished last season with 12 goals and five assists for Bowling Green. While earning All-MVC First-Team and MVC’s All-Tournament Team honors. The Bellbrook, Ohio, native was also a USC Coaches All-America Second Team and was a TopDrawerSoccer Third-Team All-America last season. He was drafted by the Seattle Sounders in the third round of the 2025 MLS Super Draft and is the first player in program history to return to the Falcons after being drafted.
Painter led the Falcons in scoring last season, scoring 13 goals and four assists, starting all 20 matches. He earned a spot on the All-MVC Second Team after finishing among the top 25 players in the nation in total goals, total points, and game-winning goals.
Shaffer started all 20 games for Bowling Green in 2024, scoring two goals and being tied for the team lead in assists with nine. His nine assists placed him 18th in the nation in that category. The Galena, Ohio, native also scored in the MVC Tournament’s championship against Evansville.
Bowling Green kicks off the 2025 season against IU Indy on Thursday, Aug. 21, at Cochrane Stadium. With kick-off set for 7:00 p.m.
