BGSU men’s soccer (1-1-1) earned its win of the 2025 season, defeating rivals Wright State 3-0 in the I-75 Cup derby.
With the win, the Falcons keep the I-75 Cup in Bowling Green for the second straight season. Defeating the Raiders for the 14th time in program history.
Senior forward Trace Terry had a brace on the night, scoring his first two goals of the season. Junior forward Bennett Painter also got on the scoresheet, earning his second goal of the year.
Painter assisted Terry’s first goal of the night, in the 23rd minute, with a finish in the bottom left of the net. Terry scored his second in the 51′ to double Bowling Green’s advantage.
Junior midfielder Anthony Hernandez got his first assist of the year, assisting Painter’s goal in the 62nd minute.
Terry led the Falcons in shots with six against the Raiders, with all of them on target, which tested Wright State goalkeeper Alessandro Malterer.
The Raiders had one more shot than BG, 12 to 11 in favor of Wright State. BG, however, had eight shots on goal compared to just six for WSU.
Junior goalkeeper Enzo Gil earned his first shutout as a Falcon, making six saves. In front of Gil in the backline were junior defender Gus Peacock, graduate student Caio Tascheto, and Saul Rios, who made his first start for Bowling Green since 2023, playing the full 90 minutes.
Freshman Caue Ramos got his first collegiate start, playing 77 minutes, while three other freshmen appeared for head coach Eric Nichols. Forward Tyson McCoy made his third straight appearance, and striker Adin Ibrahimovic made his Bowling Green debut. Defender Xavier Sims also appeared for the Orange and Brown.
The Falcons will play their third straight match on the road on Labor Day, taking on Michigan at U-M Soccer Stadium. Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
