For the second time this season, BGSU men’s soccer junior goalkeeper Enzo Gil has earned the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Defensive Player of the Week after his performance against Michigan and Michigan State.
Gil earned his second shutout of the season in a 1-0 win against Michigan State on Friday and had a total of 11 saves against the two Big Ten opponents, with five saves against Michigan on Labor Day and six against the Spartans.
The São Paulo native is currently ranked second in the nation in total saves with 32 and in saves per game with 6.40. On top of that, he also leads the MVC in save percentage at 91.4%.
This is the third straight week the Falcons have had a player earn MVC weekly honors, with senior forward Trace Terry being named MVC Offensive Player of the Week last week.
Bowling Green’s next match will be against the Kentucky Wildcats on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 1:00 p.m.
