BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – BGSU men’s soccer (2-2-2) will host the Bellarmine Knights (3-2-2) on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium. The match is the final home non-conference test for the Falcons before Missouri Valley Conference play begins.
Saturday will also mark the first time the Knights and the Falcons meet on the pitch.
There’s an opportunity to bring a furry friend to Cochrane Stadium—it’s ‘Pups at the Pitch’ night.
About Bellarmine:
Bellarmine (3-2-2) enters the contest following a dominant 7-0 win over Spalding on Wednesday. Sophomore forward Johan Nissen-Lie recorded the first hat trick of the Division I era for the Knights, scoring three goals in the opening half. The victory came in the first game since longtime head coach Tim Chastonay announced he would retire at the end of the season.
The Knights netted five goals in the first half and added two more after the break, marking their second-most goals, assists (7), points (21), shots (23) and shots on goal (14) in the Division I era. Freshmen Joaquin Wladdimiro and Brady Smith both scored their first collegiate goals, while Colin Mackey and Teddy Franke also found the net. Bellarmine improved to 3-0 at home this season.
Bellarmine has not won on the road this season, going 0-2-2 in said contests. In addition to draws with Belmont and Evansville, the Knights lost 1-0 at Kentucky on a penalty kick and 3-1 at UNC Asheville, with the final goal coming on a breakaway in the last minute after BU sent the house on an indirect free kick.
Earlier this year, goalkeeper Peter Van Euwen was named ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week after performances against Kentucky and Xavier.
