BGSU women’s tennis (3-0) continued their undefeated start to the season after a dominant performance against the Dayton Flyers (0-4) at Perrysburg Tennis Center in Perrysburg, Ohio. The Falcons secured a 7-0 sweep, with the team winning every matchup against their opponents.
Doubles Sets the Tone
The Falcons started the day by sweeping the doubles portion of the contest 3-0 to earn the match’s first point.
The pairing of Konstantina Adamopoulou and Lucia Gaio won in a commanding 6-0 sweep. Meanwhile, Kiera Taylor and Libby Blair finished with a 4-2 DNF victory.
“We played a great opening match today, against Dayton, and came out firing,” head coach Mike Bonnell said. “I love when our doubles sets the tone with aggressive play from the start. That same energy carried into the singles, and we executed very well, from top to bottom.”
Dominance in Singles
The Falcons were commanding in singles play as well, not losing a single match against Dayton.
Tia Clemens led the way, taking her first set 6-4 before dominating the second 6-0.
Taylor delivered a strong showing, sweeping her opponent 6-3, 6-1.
Qianya Liu recorded a decisive point for the Falcons, winning her matchups with scores of 6-2 and 6-1.
Blair was equally effective, sweeping her opponent and taking both sets 6-2.
Other Falcons with straight-set victories included Adamopoulou and Gaio, who both secured 6-4, 6-4 wins to complete the team’s perfect singles performance.
