BGSU women’s tennis (5-4) lost against Cleveland State University (2-8) on Sunday at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion in Cleveland, Ohio. The Falcons lost 4-3 after their multiple matches of doubles and singles.
Doubles
BGSU had shown dominance at the start of the day, with wins from both courts No. two and three.
Found at court No. two were juniors Tia Clemens and Qianyu Liu, who won their doubles match with a score of 6-4, finishing at around 47 minutes.
Finishing at about the same time was sophomore Konstantina Adamopoulou and senior Leticia Fonseca at court No.3, winning their match against the Vikings 6-4 as well. These victories would have given the Falcons a 1-0 lead going into the singles matches.
Singles
BGSU played six singles matches, but only found wins in two of them.
The first singles match to finish would be freshman Kiera Taylor’s, retiring in the second set of her match due to injury.
Falcons Clemens and Liu would continue to be dominant forces for the team throughout the day. Liu finished her match against the Vikings with a win of 6-3 and 6-4. Clemen’s won her match with a score of 6-7, 6-3, and 10-6, finishing her match with an intense three sets.
These victories would not be enough, though, with the Falcons still falling short at a score of 4-3 against CSU.
