Former BGSU men’s soccer forward Trace Terry has signed a professional contract with Fort Wayne FC in the United Soccer League (USL) League One.
“I’m really excited for the opportunity to join Fort Wayne FC,” Terry said in a press release. “From the conversations I’ve had with the staff, and what I’ve seen from the club, it’s clear there’s a strong culture and ambition here.
Terry was drafted by the Seattle Sounders in the third round of the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft, went to preseason with the team ahead of the 2026 MLS regular season, but ultimately did not sign with the club.
In his four seasons with Bowling Green, Terry appeared in 68 matches, making 56 starts and scoring 28 goals and 11 assists for the Falcons—including 11 game-winning goals, which is tied for second most in program history.
“Trace is a striker we have always had very high on our list,” said Fort Wayne FC head coach Mike Avery. “He is a tall and athletic central striker who has a great penalty box presence as a goal creator.”
Under head coach Eric Nichols, Terry was a two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) First-Teamer, a one-time All-MVC Second Team in 2023, a United Soccer Coaches 2025 Forwards to Watch list selection, and was twice named to the TopDrawerSoccer Best XI (All-America) Third Team.
Terry was also named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List by United Soccer Coaches before the 2025 season, becoming just the second player in program history to earn the honor.
“I’m grateful for the chance to be part of it and can’t wait to get to work, meet the fans, and help the team compete for a championship this season,” said Terry.
Terry and Fort Wayne FC begin their inaugural season in USL League One against FC Naples on Saturday, March 7.
