BGSU men’s basketball Javontae Campbell earned Mid-American Conference (MAC) Defensive Player of the Year, All-MAC First Team and All-MAC Defensive team honors, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
Campbell leads the country in steals with 96—a program record—and ranks second in the MAC with 18.8 points per game and fifth with 5.1 assists per game.
Other individual awards including Miami’s Travis Steele and Peter Suder earning Coach of the Year and Player of the Year, respectively, Toledo’s Leroy Blyden Jr. winning MAC Freshman of the Year and Akron’s Shammah Scott winning MAC Sixth Man of the Year.

All-MAC First Team: Suder, Campbell, Tavari Johnson (Akron), Armani Lyles (Akron) and Delrecco Gillespie (Kent State)
All-MAC Second Team: Brant Byers (Miami), Eian Elmer (Miami), Leonard Bettiol (UMass), Jackson Paveletzke (Ohio) and Sonny Wilson (Toledo)
All-MAC Third Team: Shammah Scott (Akron), Ryan Sabol (Buffalo), Marcus Banks Jr. (UMass), Luke Skaljac (Miami) and Leroy Blyden Jr. (Toledo)
All-MAC Honorable Mention: Evan Mahaffey (Akron), Daniel Freitag (Buffalo), Morgan Safford (Kent State), Antwone Woolfolk (Miami) and Javon Simmons (Ohio)
