BGSU men’s basketball and head coach Todd Simon have landed two more transfer portal commitments from Eastern Kentucky’s Juan Cranford Jr. and South Florida’s Tristan Beckford.
The Falcons previously added Trey Simmons and Zach Howell in the portal.
Cranford, a 6-foot-4 guard, started 29 games with EKU and averaged 12.1 points during him time with the Colonels, which placed him 22nd in the Atlantic Sun Conference
Living behind the arc, Cranford was fifth in the ASUN in 3-point field shooting at 36.3%. He attempted seven triples per game and made 2.5, ranking sixth in the conference for 3-pointers made.
Having 12 games with 15 or more points, the guard can be an explosive offensive threat that can take over any game offensively.
Additionally, with 22 steals on the seasons, he can jump the passing lanes to help the Falcons turn defense into offense.
Cranford chose BGSU over interest from Cincinnati, Creighton, Memphis, Miami (OH), Akron and Ohio.
Beckford is a former four star recruit. He is a 6-foot-5 forward who saw limited minutes with the USF Bulls, playing in just 21 games with one start.
Beckford averaged 2.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game on a team that finished first in the American Conference and made March Madness.
He has shown flashes, highlighted in USF’s win over the College of Charleston where he put up 17 points, nine rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block.
Out of high school, Beckford had offers from Oregon, Iowa, Minnesota, Arizona State and Seton Hall.

Good to see coach “ refilling” roster again. I guess this is the way college sports are going, but I don’t see it as a positive process. Having a NEW roster every yr is certainly not in fans best interest and I’m not so sure going to 3-4 schools in 4 yrs is good for kids either, outside the $$$.
