BGSU softball (15-35, 7-19 MAC) hosts the Robert Morris Colonials (26-15, 16-7 Horizon) at Meserve Field for the season finale with a single game on Friday, May 3, at 1:00 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 3:00 p.m.
The Orange and Brown lead Robert Morris in the all-time series with a 6-2 record. BG has won the last four games against the Colonials including their last matchup in 2018 where the Falcons earned a 8-1 win.
Bowling Green comes into this game struggling to stop the opposition from scoring. In the last three games, the Falcons have given up 10 or more runs. Pitchers Mackenzie Krafcik and Sydney Marshall will look to help right the ship in the pitching department.
The offense for the Orange and Brown has been solid behind Hannah Hunt and her 56 hits on the season, which puts her seventh in the MAC. Helping on the offensive end is Addie Martin with a .699 slugging percentage, which is the third-best in the MAC.
Martin also leads the team in stolen bases with 15. She is the first player in program history to record at least a dozen steals and a dozen home runs in a season. She needs two more homers to tie former Falcon Hannah Fulk, who hit 15 home runs in 2012 to tie for the most in team history in a single season.
The visiting Colonials will look to take the momentum of the season into postseason play as they remain second in the Horizon League this season. After starting the season 4-9, the Colonials have won 22 of their last 28 games heading into the series against the Falcons.
Robert Morris is efficient on both sides of the ball, with a team batting average of .314 and an ERA of 4.03.
Leading the way for Robert Morris on the offensive end is sophomore outfielder Kaylyn Hopf with a .388 batting average on the season, third in the Horizon League.
Not far behind Hopf is Courtney Poulich with a .349 and Mary Brant with a .344, landing them ninth and tenth in the Horizon League batting average. Poulich leads the team with 12 home runs, 11 doubles, and 47 RBIs.
Madison DeVault holds the best ERA in the Horizon League at 2.63. Sophomore Kaitlyn Molitoris is right behind DeVault with an ERA of 3.68, landing her fourth. Rounding out the Colonial pitchers is Madelyn Coleman in seventh with an ERA of 4.20.
The Falcons look to end the season strong as they are riding a 10-game losing streak against Robert Morris. Falcon Media Sports Network’s Ben Corak and Henry Kosko will have the call of the game starting at 2:45 on WBGU 88.1 FM.
