Eastern Michigan was handed a 6-5 loss against Ball State in the first game of the tournament, while Toledo took their first loss earlier in day three to Miami (OH) 10-4.
The matchup between EMU and UT was a slow rolled dominant performance by the Rockets, who scored three runs in the first inning before quietly picking up three more over the fifth to seventh innings.
Senior outfielder Caden Konczak kicked off the ball game with a two-run homer to right field.
Redshirt sophomore outfielder Luke Walton had an RBI single to right field to score redshirt sophomore infielder Troy Sudbrook and hit the 3-0 lead for the Midnight Blue and Gold.
Toledo put the pressure on the Green and White with the decision to start freshman right-handed pitcher Brady Sasse.
Sasse worked through five innings, allowing only one run on five hits and three strikeouts. He threw 77 pitches and earned a 1.80 ERA.
The Eagles scored one of their two runs by the junior infielder Bruce Jellison single to left center to score junior utility player Ty Stecko.
The Rockets proceeded to score three more runs through the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
The stretch started with a single by sophomore utility player Cole Cahill that scored Konczak in the fifth, which was followed up with a Sudbrook sacrifice fly, and finished with a senior outfielder Luke Leto home run over the right field wall.
Eastern Michigan could not muster enough of a comeback in the ninth inning, scoring only one before Toledo closed out the game.
The Green and White would be officially eliminated from the MAC tournament, joining the Falcons as the only teams eliminated by the end of day three.
The Midnight Blue and Gold will continue to use their moment while staying on the brink of elimination with an early matchup against Ball State to start off day four of the tournament at 10:00 am.
