BGSU women’s soccer (4-1-1) brought home a 2-1 win against Robert Morris (2-3-0) on Thursday despite a three-hour weather delay and relocation to Montour Junction Sports Complex.
The Falcons did not disappoint in their opportunity to play under the lights, with sophomore goalkeeper Payton O’Malley facing eight shots while saving one out of the two on goal.
After the three-hour weather delay, BGSU took no time to start the action as junior forward Emma Stransky took the first shot of the game on either side in the 4th minute, which was saved in the top right corner by Colonial junior goalkeeper Emma Cameron.
Even with the Falcons getting the first shot on goal, Robert Morris was the first to hit back net with a senior forward Paloma Swankler’s goal in the 17th minute of the match.
The Orange and Brown struck back quickly with a goal of their own by junior forward Ella Kane in the 27th minute, her second goal of the season.
BGSU took its first lead of the match in the second half at the 62nd minute as junior forward Isabella Mazzaferro knocked a shot past Cameron.
The Orange and Brown held the colonials to only two shots in the second half, none being on goal.
The Falcons will face Duquesne on Sunday, Sept. 7, for the final non-conference matchup before Mid-American Conference (MAC) play. Falcon Media Sports Network’s Henry Kosko and Lucas Kleimeyer will be on the call for the game on WBGU-PBS, along with more coverage of the matchup on bgfalconmedia.com.
