BGSU women’s soccer’s first transfer portal departure was announced on Tuesday night via Instagram, as defender Christie Fransen declared that she will be leaving Bowling Green for Ypsilanti, Michigan, where she will play for the Eastern Michigan Eagles in 2026.
Fransen saw time in 10 matches in 2025, earning four starts on 404 total minutes after missing 2024 due to injury, and she played key minutes at the center back spot in the absence of junior captain Taylor Green in the middle of Mid-American Conference play.
Eastern Michigan will be entering its third season under head coach Taylor Clarke, who was a former associate head coach for BGSU in 2021 and 2022 under former coach Jimmy Walker. Clarke saw his squad fall just short of a MAC Tournament appearance in 2024 and 2025, finishing in seventh place, both times one spot behind Bowling Green, which has made the tournament as the sixth and final team in back-to-back years.
Fransen hails from Wooster, Ohio, where she graduated from Wooster High School and became the first All-Ohio First Team member from the school since 2011.
