BGSU Women’s Soccer (6-1-1, 1-0-0) returned to action at Cochrane Stadium this past Sunday for its first Mid-American Conference (MAC) game of the season, going up against the Kent State Golden Flashes (2-3-3, 0-1-0).
At the end of 90 minutes, Bowling Green would soar to victory over the Flashes, 2-1. While it was a great start for the Falcons to begin in-conference play, it wouldn’t have been possible without the outstanding performance from junior forward Emma Stransky.
Stransky would go on to record four shots, and only two shots on goal that would translate to scoring for the Orange and Brown. A performance that had head coach Chris Fox singing the praises of his young junior forward.
“She’s been playing at a 10,” Fox said. “I just think that’s down to the trust that we have in her to be able to pick up pockets of space, moving the ball.”
Not only did Fox notice Stransky’s stellar offensive performance, but also the physicality aspect, with how relentless the junior forward was every step she took.
“What she did in the press, all of the dirty work that she did,” Fox added. “The amount of fouls that she won, because she was getting hit repeatedly, but Emma was just putting a body in the right position, winning the fouls, giving us a little bit of a breather. A top-tier performance for her in all aspects, and I’m really happy for her.
In just nine games so far this season, Stransky has already surpassed her goal total from the previous season. She has already scored five goals in the short stretch of games compared to her four during her 2024 campaign.
“I just have to do whatever it takes to get there,” Stransky said, smiling. “At least try to get a touch on it just to cause some chaos.”
Stransky and the Falcons will look to cause more chaos everywhere they turn, as they will travel down south to Athens, Ohio, to face their next in-conference opponent in the Ohio Bobcats (3-4-1, 1-0-0) on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 4:00 p.m.
