BGSU women’s soccer (7-1-3, 2-0-2) won soundly as they defeated Central Michigan 4-0. Junior forward Lizzie Bultnyck had herself a career day as she had two goals and one assist.
The Falcons got the scoring going asbgsu junior forward Emma Stransky scored BG’s first goal, but then Bultynck took over and knocked in the next two goals for the Orange and Brown. Bultynck also assisted a goal to Sophomore midfielder Audrey Oliver. For Bultynck, these were her first two goals of the season, and they came in the match where BGSU was able to get anything they wanted offensively.
“I think her best strengths are what she did today,” said head coach Chris Fox. “The runs behind, the finishing ability when she gets that timing right, the pace, she’s got the finish.” Fox continued to say, “It’s huge for her, hopefully huge for her confidence, and just really happy for her performance today.”
After the game, Bultynck was asked about the emotions she had after scoring her first goals of the season.
“It was super exciting. Our team has been working super hard, and I think we’ve all been putting in the work individually, and that just goes together as a team. Getting the first goal after the work that I put in was really rewarding,” said Bultynck.
Furthermore, today was Bultynck’s first two goals since 2023, after not finding the back of the net in 16 games during the 2024 season.
Even though Bowling Green came into the match as the heavy favorite, they did not lose focus and did not play down to their opponent.
The Falcons will now focus their attention on their next opponent, Toledo, as those two schools will face off against each other on Thursday in Toledo at 7:00 p.m.
Falcon Media Sports Network will have full coverage of the match on bgfalconmedia.com.
