BGSU women’s soccer announced three new signings on Wednesday, Nov. 12, a day that marks National Signing Day among most NCAA Division I sports.
Head coach Chris Fox signs two players from Ohio and one from Illinois in his second National Signing Day with the Falcons, directly after a Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship run to the final round came to an end against Western Michigan last weekend.
Sophie Khelashvili – Forward
Khelashvili hails from Upper Arlington, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, where she played for Ohio Premier SC in the Elite Club National League (ECNL) as well as Upper Arlington High School.
Most recently with the Golden Bears, Khelashvili won an OHSAA Division I State Championship over Seton High School on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Historic Crew Stadium, the same stadium where Bowling Green played the Broncos in the MAC Championship only a day prior. Upper Arlington finished the season 19-1-2 and was named the best team in Ohio, as well as the fifth-ranked team in the nation by MaxPreps.
Tatum Mailander – Defender
As the lone signee outside of Bowling Green’s home state, Mailander joins the squad from Elmhurst, Illinois, just outside of Chicago. Mailander committed to the BG in July after playing her club soccer with Eclipse Select SC in the ECNL.
Hailey Trzaska – Goalkeeper
Trzaska will head west in her joining of the Bowling Green squad after her commitment from Hinckley, Ohio, playing her club soccer for Cleveland Force SC in the ECNL.
Trzaska has put up impressive numbers at Highland High School as well, making 90 saves on 23 goals allowed in 45 matches over the 23-24 and 24-25 seasons.
