The Mid-American Conference (MAC) has released its 2026 softball preseason coaches’ poll, and the Bowling Green Falcons have seen a slight climb from last year, slotted at 10th overall.
With 34 points, BGSU was picked to finish two spots clear of the bottom of the conference. The Falcons sit ahead of newcomer Massachusetts (23 points) and Kent State (19 points), who occupy the 11th and 12th spots, respectively.
At the top of the standings, Miami (OH) and Ohio established themselves as the clear frontrunners. The Redhawks claimed the top spot with 116 points and eight first-place votes, followed closely by the Bobcats with 108 points. Ball State (98) and Akron (93) rounded out the top four.
Coaches are split on who will take the title, with Miami and Ohio each earning five votes to win the MAC Tournament. Akron and Ball State also garnered support, picking up one championship nod apiece.
The Falcons officially kick off their season on Feb. 6, starting with a doubleheader against Queens at 10 a.m. and Hampton at 1 p.m.
