BGSU baseball (0-4) was unable to hold onto its three-run lead, falling 4-3 against Western Carolina (4-0) on Friday night in Cullowhee, North Carolina.
The Catamounts scored four unanswered runs against Bowling Green in the final five innings.
The Orange and Brown picked up all three of their runs in the top of the fourth inning, as senior infielder Sam Seidel led off the inning by beating out an infield single to third base.
Seidel would steal second base before redshirt junior infielder Brady Birchmeier stepped up to the plate and rocketed a ball towards Catamounts redshirt senior infielder Trent Turner, forcing an error by the shortstop, leaving Birchmeier on first and Seidel in the Falcon dugout after scoring.
Bowling Green finished off their three-run inning with redshirt senior infielder Anthony Mitta sending a pitch deep over the right field fence to score himself and Birchmeier.
The Catamounts relied on one player only throughout the entirety of the game. Redshirt sophomore outfielder Wyatt Stanley finished the ball game with three hits, four RBIs, and a home run.
Stanley began his reign of terror against the Falcons in the fourth inning with a home run to center field. He then followed it up with an RBI on a sacrifice fly to center field in the sixth inning.
Stanley finished his electrifying night with a two-RBI single through the right side of the infield.
Catamounts senior left-handed pitcher Owen Austin shut down the Falcons in the final inning, going three up, three down.
Bowling Green and Western Carolina will continue their three-game series on Saturday, with the first pitch starting at 2:00 p.m.
