Coming off a torn ACL in Bowling Green’s Fifth Third Field game against Toledo on May 2, junior utility player TJ Takats made his first defensive start of the season in left field during the 9-5 win against Dayton.
Takats has appeared in six different games for the Orange and Brown this season, all from the designated hitter role.
While the Perrysburg, Ohio, native struggled from the dish, unable to record a hit, he was able to draw a walk and snag a stolen base to help the Falcon offensively.
In the field, Takats was able to get multiple different attempts in left field, with his most iconic from his appearance being the last out of the game. A play that head coach Kyle Hallock enjoyed.
“I thought it was awesome and kind of ironic that the last play of the game goes to him in left field and gets his feet underneath him,” Hallock said, “gets him ready to go make some more plays this weekend in Oxford.”
Takats will look to make his first Mid-American Conference (MAC) defensive appearance of the season in the Falcons upcoming series against Miami (OH) at McKie Field in Oxford, Ohio. The series begins on Friday, March 13, with the first pitch coming at 1:00 p.m.
