BGSU men’s basketball and head coach Todd Simon have added South Carolina center Christ Essandoko through the transfer portal.
Essandoko becomes the fifth portal addition by the Falcons, joining Trey Simmons, Zach Howell, Juan Cranford Jr and Tristian Beckford.
The 7-foot center from Clichy, France, played 21 games, including four starts, with South Carolina, averaging 2.0 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.
Essandoko’s best performance of the season was an eight-point and seven-rebound outing against Clemson.
His career started in 2023-24 with the Saint Josephs Hawks, playing 25 games with 14 starts. Essandoko averaged 8.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.5 assist and 1.1 block per game.
Out of high school, Essandoko had offers from Illinois, Texas A&M, Maryland, NC State, Nebraska and Rutgers.
