BGSU baseball (17-29, 10-17) still chase their second series victory of the season, and first on the road, after taking a 7-3 loss to Eastern Michigan (15-30, 8-18).
The Eagles kick-started their offense early, with a two-run homer by senior utility player Ty Stecko in the first inning. It would be the only hit of the game for Stecko, but he opened up the offense in a nine-hit ballgame by EMU.
The Orange and Brown cut the deficit in half in the second inning with an RBI single by freshman infielder Griffin Scheiderer, scoring redshirt sophomore infielder Alex Laird.
Laird hit a double to left center field in the fourth inning, sophomore outfielder Carter Mottice coming around to even the score.
Eastern Michigan quickly countered Bowling Green with a run off a throwing error by senior infielder Sam Seidel, which propelled them to a four-run fifth inning.
The Falcons began that fifth inning with CJ Boudreaux on the mound. The sophomore right-hander picked up two quick lineouts to the middle infielders before allowing a walk and a single and exiting the game for redshirt sophomore Titus Lotz, who also struggled.
The two Bowling Green pitchers allowed two runs each in the inning, coming off a hit by pitch and two singles by Eastern Michigan. Junior outfielder Kriss Sydlowski picked up two of the RBIs on one of the singles.
Lotz would finish out the game for the Falcons, going for another three innings, striking out six and retiring the Eagle batters in order.
Redshirt senior outfielder Zack Horky gave the Orange and Brown one last run in the eighth inning on a solo home run to left field, but it wasn’t enough for the Falcon victory. BG took their 17th loss of MAC play in the 7-3 final.
The Falcons turn their attention to two more Michigan schools. Bowling Green and Michigan State are set to face off on Tuesday, with the first pitch set for 6:05 p.m., and the last home MAC series of the season for the Falcons the following weekend against Western Michigan.
