Coming off a season that saw the Orange and Brown skate to a 18-11-7 record in the second year of Dennis Williams’ tenure as head coach, BGSU hockey revealed their complete schedule for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
The Orange and Brown will begin their season on October 2 and 3 with a home and home series against the Big Ten’s Michigan Wolverines. They then travel to Storrs, Connecticut to compete in the 2026 Ice Breaker Tournament on October 9 and 10.
Bowling Green will close out the month of October by hosting Niagara University of Atlantic Hockey America on October 16 and 17 before beginning CCHA play on the road against Lake Superior State on October 23 and 24.
Along with the Ice Breaker Tournament, Michigan series and Niagara series, BG’s nonconference slate will also include a midweek contest at Notre Dame of the Big Ten on November 25, a home series against newly appointed Division I team Maryville on November 27 and 28 (the second game is an exhibition), an additional exhibition game on December 28 against Team USA’s National Team Development Program in Plymouth, Michigan and a final nonconference series against the reigning NCAA National Champions- Denver of the NCHC at the Slater Family Ice Arena on January 1 and 2.
CCHA conference play will see the Falcons play two series (one home, one away) against Lake Superior State (October 23 and 24 away, January 8 and 9 home), Bemidji State (November 6 and 7 home, January 15 and 16 away), Minnesota State (December 4 and 5 away, January 22 and 23 home), Augustana (November 20 and 21 home, February 12 and 13 away), Ferris State (December 11 and 12 home, February 26 and 27 away) and Northern Michigan (November 13 and 14 away, February 5 and 6 home) while playing a lone series against Michigan Tech at the Slater Family Ice Arena on February 19 and 20.
This upcoming season will see the Falcons play a total of 38 games including two exhibition matches, 10 nonconference matchups and 26 CCHA conference games across the season.
Following the regular season, the CCHA Mason Cup Playoffs will begin on March 5 and will conclude on March 19 with the Mason Cup Championship game.
If the Falcons qualify, the NCAA Regionals will begin on March 25 and will last until March 28 at predetermined regional sites. The Frozen Four will take place in Washington DC on April 8 and the national championship game on April 10.
