BGSU baseball added its second infielder from the transfer portal in former Mount Olive redshirt senior Anthony Mitta.
Mitta joins former University of Portland transfer Vinny Salvione as the only two infielders to join the Orange and Brown from the transfer portal.
The 6-foot infielder started in 61 out of his 64 games for Mount Olive, accumulating seven doubles, five home runs, and 43 walks, along with 42 runs scored and 33 RBI’s. During his time with the Trojans, Mitta had a .984 fielding percentage.
The Raleigh, North Carolina native was named captain during his high school time for Leesville Road, hitting .432 with 12 RBI’s in his senior season. Mitta earned All-State honorable mention along with Cap-7 All-Conference. He was also listed as a 2021 Perfect Game Preseason All-American.
Before his time at Mount Olive, Mitta spent a season at Campbell University. The same place where his father, Chris, played during his time in college.
