Junior forward Emma Stransky has been awarded the MAC Offensive Player of the Week for week five of the season after her two-goal performance lifted BGSU women’s soccer (6-1-1, 1-0 MAC) to a 2-1 victory over Kent State (2-3-3, 0-1 MAC) on Sunday afternoon.
Stransky’s first goal came in the 36th minute to put the Falcons up 1-0, and after the Golden Flashes equalized early in the second half, the Copley, Ohio native scored her second in the 58th minute, bringing BG to their third win of the season and their first in Mid-American Conference (MAC) play.
The two-goal performance was her first of her career and the second time a Falcon has scored twice in a game in 2025, joining grad student Ellie Pool’s brace in BG’s 4-1 victory over Detroit Mercy on Aug. 28.
After finishing 2024 with 10 points and entering the 2025 season as the leading scorer among returners, Stransky has equalized her point total through 18 games last year in only eight this time around.
Stransky stands in second in the MAC among goal scorers and fourth in points on a Falcon squad that leads the conference with 38 points, averaging 4.75 per game.
The forward is the first Falcon to earn a MAC Player of the Week award in 2025 and only the second player listed as a forward to earn a MAC Offensive Player of the Week award.
