Senior Kylee Cubbison put on a performance for the ages as the BGSU women’s cross country team competed at the Great Lakes regional meet last Friday morning. The Falcons placed 6th overall in a highly competitive field, besting Big Ten opponents such as Michigan (7th) and Ohio State (10th)
Cubbison’s 20:24.05 6K time placed her as the new all-time record holder for the distance in Bowling Green history and earned her All-Region honors. Cubbison also placed third overall among Mid-American Conference runners, losing to only Akron’s Mercy Jebitok (6th) and Toledo’s Karina James (13th ).
Rachael Withrow ran just .03 seconds short of her personal record, with a time of 20:48.93. This placed her second for the Falcons and 31st overall.
Rachael Hoover (20:58.80) came next for the Falcons, placing 37th, while Regina Rose (21:04.43/43rd) and Lexi Panning (21:11.98/50th) rounded out the scoring.
Reese Reaman (21:45.84) and Marissa Boone (22.42.31) finished out the top seven for the Orange and Brown, placing respectively 86th and 151st.
Historically, the race marked the Falcons’ best showing in 27 years. Cubbison’s time and place, as well as the Falcons’ team finish, all mark the best for the Falcons since 1998.
Head coach Lou Snelling knew the team was primed to perform as successfully as they did.
“Opportunity, pride, and commitment all came together today for Bowling Green,” said Snelling. “This group has been working hard for many weeks, months, years to put themselves in this position.
With Cross Country season in the rear-view mirror, the Falcons will now look toward Track and Field, as their own Orange and Brown intrasquad meet kicks off the Indoor Track season on Friday, Nov. 21.

The headline also disagrees with the copy. Did the team finish fifth or sixth?
