BGSU gymnastics (8-6, 1-5) fell to the Kent State Golden Flashes (7-9, 2-2) by a score of 195.600 to 192.875 on Sunday afternoon.
Vault
The Flashes posted a score of, 49.100, with top contributors Charlie Behner and Sophia Balko both posting scores of 9.850. The leading Falcon, Charniya Brown, trailed with a 9.800 of her own, as the Falcons scored a 48.525.
Uneven Bars
Behner once again led Kent State with a 9.800 score on the way to the team’s 48.725 result. The Falcons scored lower in this event as well, mustering a 48.500 behind a team-high 9.750 score from Natasha Lopez.
Balance Beam
The Flashes led the balance beam, with a margin of 48.725 to 46.725. The top scorer across both teams was Kent State’s Heidi Schultz, with an impressive 9.900. Bowling Green’s lead was shared between Faye Dubin and Madison Coburn, both posting a 9.600 score.
Floor Exercise
Jersey Bingman posted a 9.875 for the Golden Flashes, whereas Keira Thornton posted Bowling Green’s only meet-high score for an individual event, scoring a 9.900 on the floor. The Falcons narrowly beat the Flashes in the floor exercise, with a 49.125 to 49.050 margin.
The conclusion to regular season conference competition marks a significant betterment in the second year under head coach Brittney Emmons. The Falcons eight regular season wins is twice as many as they had last season, when they finished 4-13.
Additionally, the Falcons picked up a conference win against Northern Illinois on Feb. 15, another benchmark that eluded them in the first season under Emmons.
The Falcons return to action in a non-conference matchup at the New Hampshire Tri-Meet against George Washington and New Hampshire on Sunday, March 8.
