BGSU gymnastics (10-7, 1-5) closed out its regular season at the Stroh Center with a 193.575-188.750 victory over Centenary College. The Falcons finish with a 10-7 record, marking the program’s first winning season since 2002.
The first rotation was the vault, where the Falcons scored a team total of 48.050. Senior Madison Coburn led the way with a score of 9.750, winning first overall. The juniors of Keira Thornton & Megan Dzialo placed second and third with 9.675 and 9.625, respectively.
Next was the uneven bars, where sophomore Nadia Parente led the Orange and Brown with a career-high 9.775, surpassing her previous best of 9.750 to win the event. Thornton placed second with a 9.750, while sophomore Kayla Shaw finished third with a 9.700.
The third rotation for the Falcons led them to the balance beam, where they scored a 48.075. Sophomore Faye Dubin posted a career-high 9.825, finishing second overall. Shaw led the Falcons with a 9.850 to win the event.
The Falcons closed the meet with a 49.000 on the floor. Shaw captured first place with a 9.750, while Dizalo finished second with a 9.850.
Dizalo was the only Falcon to compete in the all-around, posting a career-high of 38.800
“Today, we had the ability to be a little more aggressive,” Head coach Brittney Emmons said. “It’s awesome to be able to just go for some better landings on vault and try some new things that we’ll be able to work through.
Bowling Green now turns its attention to the postseason, as the Falcons prepare to compete in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Gymnastics Championships next week at the Stroh Center on Saturday, March 21, at 2:00 p.m.
