Bowling Green baseball (5-12, 2-4) ended their trip down I-75 with a 13-7 loss to Miami (OH) (13-5, 5-1) in Oxford, Ohio.
The Falcons have found themselves in Sunday rubber matches in both Mid-American Conference (MAC) series so far this season, adding their loss to the RedHawks with their 13-1 loss to Kent State the previous weekend.
In their matchup, Bowling Green and Miami combined for 20 total runs, including five home runs.
For the Orange and Brown, freshman catcher Andrew DiLodovico and sophomore infielder Brayden Curlis blasted both of the teams’ home runs in the sixth inning. This gave the Falcons their only lead of the game at 6-5 before Miami exploded offensively in their last three innings.
From the sixth to eighth inning, the RedHawks posted eight runs and scored in every way possible. Out of those eight runs, Miami was able to pick up runs from a hit-by-pitch, walk, sacrifice fly, error and home run.
The biggest contributor for the RedHawks was redshirt junior outfielder Tommy Harrison, who notched four hits on five at-bats. Harrison totaled four RBIs from two doubles and a home run.
Last week’s MAC Pitcher of the Week, redshirt senior left-hander Ethan Stade, struggled on the mound in his first outing since the recognition.
Stade came in from the bullpen after an out in the third inning and worked through 3.1 innings. During the outing, Stade gave up five runs on three hits, three walks, three hit-by-pitches and five strikeouts.
Bowling Green will look towards better days as the upcoming week features the team’s first time playing at the newly turfed Stellar Field, as the Falcons take on Findlay on Tuesday, with first pitch at 3 p.m.
