BGSU women’s track and field debuts their outdoor season at the Blizzard Buster in Miami, Ohio. Only the women’s Field events competed today with impressive finishes.
To start her outdoor season, Sierra Brinson finished fourth place with a throw of 13.16m on her second attempt, earning her team three points.
Lily Tomasheski also earned her team a point by getting sixth place with a throw of 12.47m on her first attempt. Sierra Podolan finished 10th with a throw of 12.07m as well on her second attempt.
Moving on to the women’s discus, Natalie Vrancken threw a distance of 42.57m, earning fourth place and five points. Just behind her are Podolan and Brinson getting fifth and sixth place with throws of 42.48m and 41.52m respectively, having a total of seven points from them.
Not too far behind is Grace Bradtmueller, earning 10th with a throw of 38.26m on her first attempt. Closing out discus is Emma Hoffman, finishing 11th with a throw of 38.04m on her second attempt.
Women’s hammer also made a debut with four of them placing. Bradtmueller placed the best with a finish of sixth place and a distance of 46.47m, earning her team three points. In eighth place was Karma Williams with a throw of 45.17m, earning a point.
Podolan and Sydney Williams also competed, earning 12th and 14th place, respectively, with throws of 38.00m and 37.72m. Hoffman also threw in the hammer event, but unfortunately, she fouled in her throws.
Another event that made an appearance today was the javelin, with the Falcons having two women who participated. Getting her team five points and earning fourth place is Tomasheski with a throw of 36.98m. Second to compete was Elizabeth Wilson, having a throw of 33.87m, getting eighth place and a single point, which ended the night greatly for the women’s field events.
To end the Falcons’ first meet of the outdoor season, they had a combined score of 30 points, landing them in sixth place at the Blizzard Buster.
The Falcons will continue to improve their season with their next meet being the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina.
