BGSU women’s track and field headed down to Cincinnati to compete in the Nikoloff Invitational, which consisted of two days. Eight women competed on Friday, consisting of just field events for the day.
Friday
Starting the day was Lily Tomasheski, placing an impressive second place in the javelin with a throw of 40.28m. Behind her were Jenna Lucas and Elizabeth Wilson, placing fifth and eighth place, respectively; their throws consisted of 35.90m and 32.22m.
Moving on to hammer throw, five falcons competed, with Grace Bradtmueller having the best throw from the team, placing 12th and having a distance of 45.98m. Just a few meters behind was Karma Williams, having a throw of 44.96m and placing 14th in the hammer.
Also competing in the hammer throw was Emma Hoffman, placing 19th and throwing 39.80m. Just behind her was Sierra Podolan, placing 20th, throwing 39.41m, and Sydney Williams closing the night out with a finish of 23rd and a throw of 36.66m.
The Falcons will continue tomorrow with nine women competing in both running and throwing events. There will also be six guys competing in the 5000m run.
Saturday
The Falcons wrapped up the Nikoloff invite this Saturday with 15 in total competing in both throwing and running.
Beginning the day early, Emma Hoffman threw the discus, throwing 41.38m and placing ninth. Natalie Vrancken threw as well, placing 11th and throwing a distance of 39.97m.
Sierra Podolan, throwing less than a meter off from Vrancken, had a throw of 39.89m and placed 12th. Ending the discus was Sierra Brinson, placing 18th and having a throw of 36.98m.
Moving on to distance was dual runner Nora Ritting, who ran in two events tonight. Starting was the 1500m, where she placed 29th with a time of 2:29.11. Next up was the 800m, where she had a slightly better race with a finish of 26th and a time of 5:03.06.
Back to throws, it’s the shot put with four girls competing, but only three placing. Having a place of tenth and a throw of 13.03 for herself was Podolan. Lily Tomasheski and Jenna Lucas placed 13th and 14th, respectively, with throws of 12.25m and 12.07m.
Switching over to distance again was the 5000m, with two girls competing and six guys. Madison Foster started the night for the women with a finish of 14th and a time of 18:41.14. Clare Valenza ran a time of 20:22.81, giving her a finishing place of 25th.
Having a appearance in tonight’s meet was the men‘s side of track and field. Starting was Owen Zaumeyer with a finish of tenth and a time of 14:58.12. Next up is Micah Bentley, placing 19th and having a time of 15:23.15.
Luke Woolard placed 20th and had a time of 15:27.66. Finishing a bit behind is Bryce Weber, who ran a time of 15:54.22 and finished 30th. Ending the night for the Falcons were Wyatt Ulbricht and Isaak Rubley, who placed 32nd and 33rd, respectively, and had times of 16:10.70 and 16:23.10.
Moving on to next week, the Falcons will head to Muncie, Indiana, where they will compete in the We Fly Challenge, which will last from April 10-11.
