The NCAA men’s Ice Hockey transfer portal for undergraduate players officially opened on the morning of Monday, April 13, and is open for two weeks until Monday, April 27.
On the first day of the transfer portal being open, four Bowling Green hockey players made the decision to enter the portal.
Freshman forward Tanner Scott, freshman defenseman Brian Lonergan, junior defenseman Rihards Simanovics, and junior goaltender Cole Moore have all entered the portal.
Scott and Lonergan made very selective appearances for the Falcons in their first year of college hockey, as each made four appearances in the Orange and Brown, respectively. Both will still have all four years of eligibility remaining.
Simanovics transferred to Bowling Green prior to last season following two years with the Miami University RedHawks of the NCHC. The Riga, Latvia native appeared in 24 games in his lone season with the Falcons and recorded one goal, eight shots, and 11 blocked shots across those games. Across his college career in Bowling Green and Oxford, Ohio, Simanovics has scored two goals and 11 assists for 13 points while skating in 87 career games. Simanovics will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Moore spent three seasons as a Falcon and appeared in 62 games in those three years while recording career stats of a .913 save percentage and a 2.73 goals against average, while posting a 21-29-5 record. In Bowling Green’s most recent season, Moore appeared in 14 games and recorded a career best 2.37 goals against average to go along with a .913 save percentage while posting a 5-5-3 record. Moore will have one year of eligibility remaining.
These are the first players from Bowling Green to enter the transfer portal this season, and BGSU has yet to announce any additions from the portal.
