KEWADIN, Michigan – The BGSU women’s golf team took home all the gold at the A-Ga-Ming Invitational. The Falcons shot 289-285-299 (873) to win the A-Ga-Ming Invitational as a team.
“We had the goal of coming in and competing for a tournament title right away, and the team was ready to go,” head coach Erin Fahey said.
Sophomore Addison Kartusch fired 71-65-69 (-11) to win the invitational as an individual.
That round of 65 is the lowest round in BGSU women’s golf history–the previous record holder was Bailey Arnold in the 2013-2014 season. Kartusch wrote down 13 birdies on the weekend. She shot a 205 over three rounds of play–that’s five less than Susy Grunden, who fired such a score in the 2010-2011 season.
On top of Kartusch’s record, the team broke its own record as well. They shot -3 under par collectively in the second round, shooting 285 as a team; the cumulative score breaks the program record for the best 18-hole round. They carried their success over to the third round, and while their posted 299 was the highest they shot over the weekend, it still cemented their 54-hole tournament scoring record (873).
Three Falcons fired an eagle or better, the most of any team in the tournament. They had 39 birdies as a team, the most of any Mid-American Conference (MAC) team in the tournament. Bowling Green had the fewest bogeys across every participant over the weekend.
The team brought more than one team to the tournament, as did MAC rival Western Michigan. Bowling Green beat their ‘B-team’ in the rankings as well.
Every single Falcon who played, ‘B-team’ or not, placed within the top 45.
The invitational, hosted by Central Michigan at the A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort, brought together teams from Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

The team will play in the Redbird Invitational from Sept. 7-8 in Norman, Illinois.
