NASHPORT, Ohio – BGSU men’s golf hosted the Virtues Intercollegiate in Nashport, Ohio, over the weekend, finishing their final round on Monday, Sept. 30. They finished 10th overall, finishing in front of Evansville (T-11th), Mercyhurst (T-11th), Detroit Mercy (13th), and Canisius (14th).
The Falcons wrote down 904 over three rounds of play.
Placing highest for BG was sophomore Brady Fox, who finished with the best individual score out of Bowling Green. Carding a 220 for the tournament, he finished in a tie for 22nd overall. Although he posted the best finish among his teammates, his score did not factor into the team total.
Junior Angelo Luciani stayed steady with rounds of 73-75-73 to card a 221 (+5) and tie for 26th. Sophomore Andrew Lee opened with a 71 and finished at 224 (+8, T-36), while freshman Pedro Garcia added a 225 (+9, T-40). Junior David Chavez (236, T-74) and freshman Filip Geber (239, 80th) rounded out the lineup.
Individually, senior Ethan Irvine tied for 61st with 231 (+15), while Freshman LT Harris closed strong with a 75 in the final round to finish at 234 (+18, T-68).
The Falcons picked up 41 birdies across the event, seventh-most in the field, but never converted an eagle. Par 3s proved costly at +25 (3.42 avg., ninth), while the par 4s were even more punishing—Bowling Green finished last in the category at +35 (4.23 avg.). The par 5s, typically a scoring zone, also slipped away. BG played them five over as a group, tied for ninth.
Notre Dame’s “B” team claimed the team title with an 843 (-21), leading the field in both birdies (64) and par-4 scoring (+4). Butler finished runner-up at 855 (-9), followed by Loyola-Chicago at 861 (-3).
Bowling Green heads to Westlake, Ohio, next week, Oct. 6-7 for the Tom Tontimonia Invitational hosted by Cleveland State at Lakewood Country Club.
