BGSU women’s swim & dive (13-3, 3-1) hosted its first event of a two-day meet against the Toledo Rockets (2-6, 1-4) in the Battle of I-75. The match ended with the Falcons taking a 122-44 victory against their rivals.
The Orange and Brown would get off to a strong start in the 200 Medley Relay, finishing first, third, and fourth, led by the A relay’s 1:40.59.
The momentum would then continue for the Falcons with junior Natalia Mayorga leading a sweep in the three-meter diving competition with a score of 311.93. Alongside Maygora were other Falcons such as graduate student Elise Snyder and senior Evie Long, finishing second (274.73) and third (240.45), respectively.
In the pool, senior Morgan Sokol earned the 1650-yard freestyle title with a time of 17:09.23, while another senior, Madison Bond, captured first place in the 400-yard individual medley.
The Sprint events also favored Bowling Green, highlighted by sophomore Samia Becdach winning the 50-yard freestyle and a first-place finish from senior Emily McNicol in the 200-yard backstroke.
The night would be capped off with freshman Lauren Jablonski earning gold in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:17.57.
Both the Falcons and Rockets will return to Cooper Pool for day two of their weekend matchup on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 9:30 a.m.
