BGSU swim & dive completed a two-day sweep against the Toledo Rockets, winning overall with a point score of 227-114 on Saturday.
The Falcons carried the momentum from Friday night into the morning session, opening the day with a win in the 400 medley relay with their A-squad of freshman Lauren Jablonski, sophomore Samia Becdach, and seniors Emily McNicol and Grace Bodrock touching first with a time of 3:44.64.
The Orange and Brown would also continue to dominate on the boards, sweeping the top three spots in the one-meter dive. Senior Evie Long posted a lifetime-best 278.48, securing her a rare fourth NCAA zone qualifying score. Freshman Sadie Dempz followed with a personal-best 266.48 to earn her first zone cut.
Even with the early morning start time, head coach Tanner Barton was most impressed with the efforts.
“I was impressed with how our ladies came out this morning, competing at 9:30 a.m,” Barton said. “They came with high energy and the ability to continue what we started last night.”
In the pool, senior Madison Bond earned the victory in the 200 individual medley in 2:06.75, while junior Bridget Kurtzweil added a third-place finish. Sophomore Karina Solera and Bodrock finished second and third in the 100 butterfly, and Bedcach placed second in the 100 freestyle.
McNichol continued her strong meet with a win in the 100 backstroke, touching first in 55.48, with freshman Bella Treib close behind in second. Jablonski claimed the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.81, as Bond added a third-place finish.
The meet concluded with the 400 freestyle relay, where Bowling Green’s A and B squads placed second and third.
The weekend win capped the Falcons’ most successful regular season in five decades. Bowling Green now turns its focus to the Mid-American Conference (MAC) championships, scheduled to begin Feb. 25 in Akron.
