Following Bowling Green gymnastics’ second place finish in the SEMO Quad-Meet, Falcon gymnastics starts a three weeklong home stint stretching until Feb. 22.
The Orange and Brown find themselves in one of the most desired opportunities in all of sports, spending nearly an entire month in their home arena.
Bowling Green is still searching for their first Mid-American Conference (MAC) victory of the season, taking losses to Eastern Michigan, Ball State and Western Michigan.
However, the Falcons have picked up five non-conference victories in meets against Cornell, Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Greenville, Simpson and Fisk University.
Throughout the three-week period at the Stroh Center, the gymnastics team will compete in three different meets.
Bowling Green Tri-Meet
Bowling Green starts the stretch off with a tri-meet against Wilberforce and Fisk University on Sunday, Feb. 8 with a 2 p.m. start time.
Wilberforce is still trying to get into the win column, with Bowling Green being their third MAC opponent.
Along with their MAC opponents, Wilberforce has also already faced off against Fisk University multiple times this season.
Fisk University took a victory over Wilberforce in a quad meet on Jan. 11 with a final score of 184.025 – 169.850, with their second victories coming in the Windy City Invite with a 183.525 – 176.875 final.
The Gym Dogs have had multiple meets in the 180.000’s with their highest total reaching 188.975 against West Virginia and Kent State.
Dual Meet v. Northern Illinois
Following the Bowling Green Tri-Meet, the Falcons will take on Northern Illinois in a MAC matchup on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m.
Similar to Bowling Green, the Huskies are winless in MAC competition, with losses to Kent State, Eastern Michigan and Ball State.
Northern Illinois had their highest total of the season in the Golden Girls Classic with a 193.200. Along with their highest all-around score, the teams highest event totals on vault, bars, and floor.
Huskies sophomore Drake White has been a stable face in the lineup this season, having multiple all-around appearances. Her highest all-around total came in the Golden Girls Classic with a 38.600.
Dual Meet v. Central Michigan
Finishing off the home stretch on Sunday, Feb. 22, the Falcons face off against Central Michigan in hopes of picking up a MAC victory. The meet will start at 2 p.m.
The Chippewas have the best record of any Falcon opponent in their third week home stint with an overall record of 6-1 with their only MAC meet being a victory over Western Michigan.
The only loss Central Michigan has received in the 2026 season is against nationally ranked Georgia.
Chippewa senior Luciana Alvarado-Reid has been a key factor in the success of Central Michigan with her high flying all-around performances. Alvarado-Reid scored a season high 39.425 all-around in the Georgia meet.
Falcon Four Gymnasts to Watch
Thornton heads into the home stretch coming off the first all-around performance of the Falcons 2026 season in the SEMO Quad Meet, in which she scored a 38.825.
Shaw has competed in three out of four events in every competition so far this season, with bars, beam, and floor being her events. Shaw has not scored belong a 9.500 this season.
Dzialo shines on both vault and floor, with recent scores of 9.650 and 9.775, respectfully. She also competes bars to join Shaw as one of four gymnasts to compete three out of four events every meet so far.
Emily Gianfrancesco – Sophomore
Gianfrancesco competes a different set of three events then both Shaw and Dzialo, being a vault, beam, and floor specialist. In the Falcons meet against Cornell, Gianfrancesco scored a 9.700 or above on all three events.
