The BGSU swim and dive team (7-0) defeated Eastern Michigan University 169-131 at their home pool deck, Cooper Pool, on Friday night.
The Falcons had a successful start to the night, winning the 400-yard medley relay. With performances from senior Emily McNicol, freshman Lauren Jablonski, senior Grace Bodrock, and sophomore Samia Becdach, they found themselves in first place with a time of 3:45.88
The 400-yard medley was not the only place Bodrock shined through at this meet. Bodrock placed first in the 200 butterfly at a time of 2:04.28, as well as first in the 100 butterfly at a time of 56.26.
Along with the success in the 400-yard medley, Becdach placed first in the 50 freestyle at a time of 23.51, as well as placing first in the 100 freestyle at a time of 51.38.
McNicol is another Falcon who swam in the 400-yard medley and kept the speed going for BGSU’s win. In the 100-yard backstroke, she took first place with a time of 55.54, and in the 200-yard backstroke, she placed first at 2:02.72.
The Falcons made first place in not just one freestyle swim, but the 200 freestyle swim as well. Sophomore Taylor Devorace swam her way to first with a time of 1:54.49.
BGSU dominated in both dive events that took place. Junior Natalia Mayorga placed first in both the three-meter dive and the one-meter dive at scores of 306.08 and 275.93.
“She was locked in during warm-ups,” said head coach Tanner Barton, “During the three-meter event, the one-meter event, and she really came out and put up incredible scores and got those first-place points.”
The Falcons swim and dive at home once again against the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. and then again at 11 a.m. the following morning.
